Everytime I hear Jay-z and Alicia Keys sing "Empire State of Mind" makes me want to live in New York. "The city never sleeps, better slip you an Ambien"......and a Benadryl, Lipitor, Prozac, Lyrica, Enbrel and Plavix. Sanofi-Aventis (maker of Ambien) will soon be cutting a very large check to Jay-Z. Its a better name drop than 30 seconds at the Superbowl. Genius.

Speaking of money, I am awaiting my shipment of GNC vitamins. You know, the ones that promise to melt fat cells and give enough energy to re-shingle the roof. I can't even remember what they are called. Legal? yes. Effective? product was rated 4 whole stars (out of 5). I think I am ready to get to work again. March 1st is the new January 1st.

2010. Hard to believe that just 10 years ago we were stocked up on canned goods and took all our money out of savings and checking just in case Y2K evolved into the mass chaos of hell that was feared. A complete shutdown of all computers on this planet. Don't you remember? The wonderful powers that be put the fear of god in everyone. "The computers can't program the year 2000 so we will all go back to the dark ages....blah blah blah." What a bunch of shit. But I will admit I was scared; skeptical, but scared.

Fast forward 10 years. My 4 year old is now 13. We've added another extremely intellegent yet slightly crazy daughter to our lives. Had to start paying school loans. Gainfully employeed. 31. tired. annoyed. turned off.

Iam not depressed as my mother would diagnos me, just the usual January boredom. I am waiting for the jumper cables to be attached and a jolt of vitality pushed into me. No serotonin reuptake inhibitors for me, thanks. But if you have Ativan lying arould, we'll talk.

Looking ahead, I Hope this year will ignite my spirit and the way of life I used to know: fun, adventurous and fearless. So, as I sit on my familiar old couch watching asshole movies about hangovers, jackoffs and being knocked up, I ponder. Currently thinking about learning the art of fencing and becoming a certified barista. Good luck to me:)
